:: Agaves are strong succulents unique to our new world desserts.

:: Agaves spend their entire life collecting energy to generate the only, and extraordinary, single flower spike they are able to produce.

:: They die young after fulfilling their cycle in nature. Agaves die after the flower fades, all their energy is required for this single act.

:: Guess what? Tequila is made only from Agave. Some people think tequila is made from any cacti/succulent, but that’s not correct.

To learn about how agaves are pollinated and by who (Hint: bats 🙂 go here. My friend Angelica is doing her PHD all about the bats that are essential to agave existence.

:: Agave is a succulent, not a cactus. Cacti are considered succulents, but not all succulents are considered a cactus.
